Singapore shares close up on Friday, Stocks

SINGAPORE stocks finished higher on Friday – the last trading day of September – with the key Straits Times Index rising 0.6 per cent, or 20.79 points to 3,257.05.

Gainers outnumbered losers 237 to 149, or about eight up for every five down, as some 1.70 billion shares worth S$1.36 billion in total changed hands.

The most actively traded counter was Golden Agri-Resources with 51.22 million units traded, rising 2.04 per cent, or 0.5 Singapore cent to 25 Singapore cents. Other actives included Nam Cheong with 48.92 million shares traded, down 13.33 per cent, or 0.2 Singapore cent, to 1.3 Singapore cents, and M1 with 39.39 million units changing hands, climbing 29.45 per cent or 48 Singapore cents, to S$2.11.

Among active index stocks, DBS rose 0.58 per cent to S$26.09, while OCBC Bank inched up 0.7 per cent to S$11.44.
