SINGAPORE shares closed higher on Monday, with the Straits Times Index up 0.3 per cent or 9.52 points to 2,981.54. About 1.62 billion shares worth S$867 million in total changed hands, which worked out to an average unit price of S$0.53 per share.
Losers outnumbered gainers 202 to 162.
Genting Singapore and Yangzijiang Shipbuilding were among the most actively traded stocks for the day, gaining S$0.01 and S$0.06 to end at S$0.875 and S$1.21 respectively.
Among financials, UOB closed up S$0.08 or 0.3 per cent at S$24.15 but DBS fell S$0.07 or 0.3 per cent to S$23.03.
