SINGAPORE shares built on gains made on Wednesday, with the Straits Times Index up 42.05 points or 1.4 per cent to close at 3,060.85 on Thursday.
About 2.33 billion shares worth S$1.23 billion in total changed hands, which worked out to an average unit price of S$0.53 per share.
Gainers outnumbered losers 226 to 175.
The most actively traded stock was Genting Singapore, which rose S$0.01 to S$0.89 with 39.1 million shares changing hands.
Other actives included Yangzijiang Shipbuilding and Ezion Holdings.
Among financials, OCBC, which reported a 12 per cent increase in net profit to S$1.25 billion for its third quarter on Thursday morning, closed S$0.41 or 3.8 per cent up at S$11.15.
Meanwhile, DBS closed S$0.49 or 2.1 per cent higher at S$23.95 and UOB finished S$0.28 or 1.1 per cent up at S$24.66.
